MagicBrief Alternatives: Where to Go Now It Has Closed

MagicBrief closed on 31 July 2026. Here is where to go, depending on which half of it you used. I make one of the options, so weigh this accordingly.

· Editorial

MagicBrief is gone. Its own site says the platform shut down on 31 July 2026 at 8 PM EST, and that it cannot be accessed after that. Canva had bought the company, and the team built Canva Grow to take its place.

So where do you go? It depends on which half of MagicBrief you used.

  • You used it to read your own ad results. Look at Canva Grow first, then Foreplay's Lens or Atria. All three connect to your own ad accounts. Kvasano does not.
  • You used it to save and study other brands' ads. Foreplay and Atria are the closest replacements. Kvasano fits if you also want the rest of the picture on a short list of competitors: how long each ad has run, an estimate of what they spend, and their traffic, prices and reviews next to yours.

I make Kvasano, so weigh what I say about it. Prices below are from each vendor's own pricing page as I read them on 25 October 2026, unless I say otherwise.

What happened to MagicBrief

Here is what MagicBrief's FAQ and homepage say, in short:

  • The platform closed on 31 July 2026 at 8 PM EST. Data cannot be recovered after that.
  • Billing was cancelled when the shutdown was announced.
  • Your ad results were never stored only in MagicBrief. In the FAQ's words, your campaign data, spend and creative performance "remain in your ad platforms". Meta Ads Manager and TikTok Ads still have all of it.
  • Insights data could be exported as CSV before the shutdown. Inspire collections, the boards of other brands' ads you saved, could not be bulk exported, because they were third-party creatives.
  • Former customers were offered 6 months free on Canva Business. The promo code had to be redeemed by 30 September 2026, so that window has closed.

The third point is the reassuring one. If you used MagicBrief for your own results, you lost a dashboard, not your data. The fourth point is the painful one. If you spent two years saving competitor ads into Inspire boards, those boards are gone, and you start again somewhere else.

MagicBrief and Kvasano, side by side

MagicBrief no longer exists, so this compares what it did with what Kvasano does today. It is not a like-for-like swap. Read the rows that match the job you need done.

What MagicBrief did well

Credit where it is due. MagicBrief put two things in one place that most teams kept apart: the ads you were running, and the ads you wanted to learn from. A creative strategist could look at their own results in the morning and pull reference ads into a brief in the afternoon, without switching tools.

It was also built for the people making ads, not for analysts. Boards and briefs were the point. That may be part of why a design company bought it.

Where it fell short for watching competitors

Inspire was a library of ads you chose to save. That is useful for ideas. It is weaker as competitor research, for three reasons.

  • You saw what you saved. If a rival quietly ran one ad for nine months, a board of saved ads would not tell you that on its own.
  • An ad is one corner of the picture. Ads do not tell you whether that rival's traffic grew, whether they raised prices, or what their one-star reviews complain about.
  • It was not yours to keep. The shutdown made that plain. The boards could not be exported.

None of that was a flaw for a creative team. It just means a creative library and a competitor report are different tools, and you may want one, the other, or both.

The alternatives

1. Canva Grow: if your team already lives in Canva

MagicBrief's homepage describes Canva Grow as "a new end-to-end marketing workflow for creating, launching, and analysing ads in Canva." The FAQ says it currently supports Meta and TikTok, for both publishing and analytics.

This is the official path, built by the people who built MagicBrief. If your designers make ads in Canva and you mainly used MagicBrief to read your own results, start here.

What I could not confirm: the FAQ does not mention competitor tracking or a library of other brands' ads in Canva Grow, and Canva's own pages blocked my fetch, so I have no current price to give you. Check both on canva.com before you move.

2. Foreplay: the closest replacement for Inspire

Foreplay is a swipe file first. As of October 2026 it advertises a community ad library of 200,000,000+ ads, covering the Meta Ad Library, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts and Google's Transparency Center.

Its competitor tracker is called Spyder. Its page says Spyder follows Meta ads on Facebook and Instagram, saves live and inactive ads, and shows each ad's lifespan on a timeline. Saved ads are kept for as long as you track the brand. Foreplay also has Lens, which reads your own ad account.

The catch is the plan. Prices as of October 2026, from foreplay.co/pricing:

  • Basic, $59/mo ($49/mo billed yearly): swipe file, discovery and briefs, 1 user. No Spyder and no Lens.
  • Workflow, $175/mo ($149/mo billed yearly): Spyder for 10+ brands, Lens for 1 brand, 5 users.
  • Agency, $459/mo ($389/mo billed yearly): Spyder for 50+ brands, Lens for 10+ brands, 10 users.

There is a 7-day free trial that turns into a paid plan, and a 14-day money-back guarantee after the first charge.

Buy Foreplay if your MagicBrief day was mostly Inspire and briefs. It does that job better than Kvasano, because Kvasano does not do that job at all. If you want to follow competitors, budget for Workflow, not Basic.

3. Atria: if you want AI to make the ads too

Atria covers both halves of MagicBrief and adds AI creative on top. Its homepage says it analyses your own Meta and TikTok ad performance, layers in competitor and market data, and has an assistant that writes briefs and ad variants and uploads them to Meta.

Prices as of October 2026, from tryatria.com/pricing:

  • Core, $129/mo billed yearly ($219/mo regular): 5 seats, follow 50 brands, 3 brand profiles, 5 ad accounts.
  • Plus, $343/mo billed yearly ($549/mo regular): 8 seats, follow 100 brands.
  • Business, $959/mo billed yearly ($1,549/mo regular): 15 seats, follow 200 brands.

The homepage offers a free tier with 1,000 credits and no card. Atria also includes a REST API and MCP calls on every paid plan, which Kvasano does not offer.

Buy Atria if you run a performance team that wants analytics, inspiration and ad production in one place, and you follow more brands than a short list.

4. Minea: only if you sell products online and hunt for winners

Minea is an ad spy tool aimed at e-commerce sellers and dropshippers. Its pricing page lists a brand tracker, shop and product listings, and AI transcripts of ads. It covers "All Facebook ads" and influencer product placements. Snapchat, Pinterest and TikTok ads are marked "coming soon".

As of October 2026, from minea.com/pricing: Starter $49/mo, Premium $99/mo, Business $199/mo, cheaper if paid quarterly. You can register for free.

It is built for a different buyer than a brand's creative team, so this is a niche pick. If you were using ad research to find products that sell, it is worth a look.

5. Kvasano: if you want the competitor picture, not a creative library

This is mine, so here is what it does and does not do, plainly.

You give us a short list of competitors. Every 14 days we measure them and you on the same sources and put it on one page. For ads, that means each competitor's live ads, how long each one has run, the hooks they keep repeating, and where the ads send traffic. Next to that sits an estimate of their ad spend on Meta, TikTok and YouTube.

That spend number is a range, and we label it an estimate. Meta does not report spend for commercial ads, so we model it from live ads and a cost-per-thousand band. A tool that shows you an exact spend figure for a competitor has made it up.

Then comes everything that is not an ad: website traffic and where it comes from (that is Similarweb's modelled estimate, and we say so), price changes, review themes, open jobs, press, and what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews say about your category. The source sits behind every row.

What Kvasano does not do, compared with MagicBrief:

  • No connection to your own ad accounts. No dashboards of your own creative results.
  • No swipe file, no boards, no briefs.
  • No real-time alerts. If a rival launches a new ad on Tuesday, you see it in the next run.
  • No CSV export and no API.

Pricing: the first benchmark is free, one competitor, run once. Then $39/mo for 1 competitor, $99/mo for 7, $299/mo for 15. Get your free benchmark, no card and no call.

Pick Kvasano if your real question was never "what ad should we make next" but "what are these five rivals doing, and is it working for them".

How to choose

Start with the job, not the tool list.

  • You need your own ad results in one dashboard. Canva Grow if you design in Canva. Atria if you also want AI to produce ads. Foreplay Lens if you want it next to a swipe file. Remember that your ad platforms still hold all of this data, free.
  • You need a big library of ads for ideas. Foreplay. Its library is built for exactly that.
  • You need to follow dozens of brands' ads. Foreplay Workflow or Agency, or Atria. Kvasano tops out at 15 competitors.
  • You need to know what a few rivals spend and how long their ads survive, plus their traffic, prices and reviews. Kvasano. Longevity tells you which ads they keep paying for. The rest tells you whether it is working.
  • You need two of these. That is normal. A creative tool and a competitor report overlap very little, so running Foreplay or Atria next to Kvasano is not paying twice for the same thing.

If the last two points sound like you, try it on one competitor before you pay anything. Start your free benchmark here.

FAQ

When did MagicBrief shut down?

On 31 July 2026 at 8 PM EST, according to MagicBrief's own FAQ and homepage. The platform is no longer accessible and the data cannot be recovered.

Did MagicBrief become Canva Grow?

Canva acquired MagicBrief, and MagicBrief's FAQ says the team built Canva Grow to bring the best of what they had made to more teams. MagicBrief's homepage points former users to Canva Grow. It is a new product, not MagicBrief under a new name, and the FAQ only mentions Meta and TikTok support.

Can I still get my MagicBrief data?

Not from MagicBrief. CSV export from Insights was possible before the shutdown, and Inspire collections could never be bulk exported. Your own campaign data is still in Meta Ads Manager, TikTok Ads and your other ad platforms, as it always was.

What is the closest MagicBrief alternative?

For saving and studying ads, Foreplay. For your own ad analytics with AI creative on top, Atria. For a tool from the team that built MagicBrief, Canva Grow. None is an exact copy. For a measured view of a few competitors beyond their ads, Kvasano, which is a different kind of tool.

Does Kvasano replace Foreplay?

No. Foreplay is a creative tool with a swipe file and analytics for your own ad account. Kvasano has neither. Kvasano shows what a short list of competitors run, how long each ad has run and what they likely spend, next to the rest of their numbers. Many teams will want both.
