Short answer: if website traffic is the number you live by, stay on Similarweb. If you bought it to keep an eye on a handful of competitors, there are cheaper tools, and some of them see more of what those competitors do.
Similarweb's entry plan costs $199 a month, or $125 a month billed yearly, for one user and three months of history. That is as of October 2026, from Similarweb's own pricing page. For that you get estimated traffic, engagement and channel mix for any website you type in.
Below are four alternatives: Semrush's Traffic & Market toolkit, Ahrefs, SpyFu and Kvasano. I make Kvasano, so discount what I say about it.
And one thing up front, because it matters more than anything else on this page. Kvasano's traffic rows are Similarweb's estimate. We get them from Similarweb. We do not model traffic ourselves. If you are leaving Similarweb because you want better traffic numbers, we are not the answer, and I will say so again further down.
Similarweb and Kvasano, side by side
The Similarweb column is its entry self-serve plan, which Similarweb calls Competitive Intelligence. The Kvasano column is our Core plan. Prices as of October 2026.
| Feature | Similarweb | Kvasano |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $199/mo, or $125/mo billed yearly | $99/mo for 7 competitors. $39/mo for 1 |
| Which sites | Any domain you look up | Your brand plus the competitors on your plan |
| Traffic estimate | Yes, Similarweb's own model | Yes, the same Similarweb estimate, shown as rows |
| Country filter | Not on the entry plan. Worldwide view only | Worldwide figures from Similarweb |
| History | 3 months on the entry plan, up to 37 on bigger plans | Every measurement since your first run |
| How often | Daily-level data is a business add-on | Every 14 days |
| Competitors' ads | Ad intelligence, in the $649/mo plan | Live ads on Meta, TikTok and YouTube, with a labelled spend estimate |
| AI search | AI brand visibility, in the $399/mo plan | Answers from 4 engines, per question |
| Reviews, prices, hiring, press | Not listed on the web plans | Yes, every 14 days |
| API | On business plans | No |
| Real-time alerts | Competitor alerts are listed in the plan | No |
Read the fourth row twice. On traffic, the two columns show the same model. Everything else in the table is about what sits around that number.
What Similarweb does well
- Any site, right now. You type a domain and get its estimated visits, engagement and channel mix. No setup and no shortlist. If your job is to size up a market of fifty companies, that is hard to beat.
- Depth, if you pay for it. The bigger plans go up to 37 months of history and more than 100 countries, with custom dashboards, an API and data feeds on the business plans. As of October 2026, the next self-serve plan, at $399 a month or $333 billed yearly, adds SEO and AI visibility. The one after that, at $649 or $542 yearly, adds ad intelligence.
- It is the source. Several tools, mine included, show Similarweb's numbers. Going to Similarweb gets you the whole model, with every filter and breakdown, not one row of it.
- You can try it. Its pricing page says there is a free trial on the self-serve plans.
If you are an analyst, an investor or an SEO lead who works in traffic all day, those are real reasons to stay. Nothing below replaces them.
Where it falls short for benchmarking a shortlist
Here is the job I mean. You are a marketer with three to seven competitors. You want to know what they are doing, how they compare to you, and what changed since last month. Traffic is one part of that, not all of it.
For that job, the entry plan has four gaps.
- It is mostly traffic. Ads sit in the top self-serve plan at $649 a month. The web plans on its pricing page do not list customer reviews, product prices, job ads or press coverage. That is not a flaw. Similarweb does not claim to do them.
- No country view. The entry plan says, in its own words, "Worldwide view (can not filter by specific country)". If you sell in one country and your rivals sell in five, a worldwide total can hide the market you care about.
- Three months of history. Enough to see a spike. Not enough to see last year's season.
- One user. Fine for one analyst. Awkward if the founder, the head of growth and the agency all want to look.
So people search for a "Similarweb alternative" for two different reasons. Some want the same traffic data for less money. Others want a wider view of a few competitors. The first group has fewer options than they hope. The second group has several.
The alternatives
Semrush Traffic & Market: a second traffic estimate
Semrush's Traffic & Market toolkit is the closest like-for-like. It shows a domain's traffic, engagement and channel split, including AI traffic, paid social, email and display. It also has top pages, a market overview and competitor monitoring.
Price, as of October 2026, from Semrush's own help page: $289 a month for Traffic & Market Pro. That is one user and up to 3,000 requests a day. There is a 7-day free trial, and you can buy it without Semrush's SEO plans.
Be clear about what that means. It is not cheaper than Similarweb's entry plan. It is a different company's model. That is its real value: if you doubt Similarweb's number for your niche, a second estimate from somebody else is the honest check.
Buy it if traffic is still the job, but you want a second opinion, or you already pay Semrush for SEO. Their SEO plan starts at $139 a month, from the Semrush pricing page.
Ahrefs: if search is the channel that matters
Ahrefs is an SEO suite. It shows which keywords and pages bring a competitor their search traffic, and who links to them. It does not try to cover the whole channel mix the way Similarweb does.
Prices as of October 2026, from Ahrefs' own page: Starter at $29 a month, Lite at $129, Standard at $249 and Advanced at $449. Brand Radar AI, for tracking brands in AI answers, starts at $199 a month. There is also a free tier for your own sites.
That Starter plan is the cheapest paid plan in this article, cheaper than mine too.
Buy it if most of your competitors' growth comes from Google, and you want to know which pages and keywords do the work.
SpyFu: if Google Ads is the battleground
SpyFu is built around competitors' Google search data: which keywords they buy, what their ads say, and how that has changed over the years.
SpyFu's own pricing page timed out when I tried it, so these prices come from a third-party review, as of October 2026: Basic at $39 a month or $33 billed yearly, Professional at $79 a month or $59 billed yearly. The same review says there is a 30-day money-back guarantee for new subscriptions.
It does not cover Meta, TikTok, reviews or prices. It goes deep on one channel instead.
Buy it if you and your rivals fight over the same paid search terms, and that fight decides your month.
Kvasano: the wider view of 1 to 7 competitors
This is mine. Starter is $39 a month for one competitor. Core is $99 a month for seven. Enterprise is $299 a month for fifteen. The first benchmark is free: one competitor, measured once, no card.
Every 14 days we measure your brand and each competitor on the same sources, over 200 measures, and put them on one page with the source behind every row. Traffic is a few of those rows: monthly visits, bounce, pages per visit, and the channel mix. The rest is what sits around traffic:
- Their live ads on Meta, TikTok and YouTube, how long each has run, and a spend estimate we label as an estimate.
- What their customers complain about, grouped into themes.
- Every product and price, with the size of each move.
- Who they are hiring, and the press and podcasts that name them.
- What ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews answer when buyers ask about your category.
What it does not do. Again: the traffic rows are Similarweb's estimate, so they are no more accurate than Similarweb, and no fresher either. They are a summary. If you need to slice traffic by page, day or app, you are back in Similarweb. There are no real-time alerts, no API and no CSV export. And we only measure the competitors on your plan, so you cannot look up a random domain on a whim.
Buy it if you have a shortlist, you want traffic next to ads, reviews and prices for each rival, and you can wait 14 days between measurements.
How to choose
Start with the question you answer most weeks, not with the feature list.
- "How much traffic do they get, by country, page or day?" Stay on Similarweb, and move up a plan if you need countries.
- "Is Similarweb's number right for my niche?" Get a second estimate from Semrush Traffic & Market. Do not get it from Kvasano. We would show you the same number.
- "Which search terms and pages win them traffic?" Ahrefs.
- "What are they bidding on in Google Ads?" SpyFu.
- "What are my seven competitors doing across channels, and how do I compare?" Kvasano.
Two more filters. If the data has to go into your own spreadsheet or BI tool, rule us out for now. If you are a team of one with a small budget, a narrow tool you will open every week beats a wide one you open once a quarter.
If the last bullet sounds like you, run one competitor free and see if the page earns its place.
FAQ
Is there a cheaper alternative to Similarweb?
For the same traffic data, not really. Semrush's Traffic & Market Pro is $289 a month, more than Similarweb's $199 monthly entry plan, as of October 2026. Cheaper tools exist, like Ahrefs from $29, but they measure something narrower. Cheaper only works if you change what you are buying.
Is Kvasano's traffic data better than Similarweb's?
No. It is Similarweb's data. We show it next to everything else we measure, with the source on the row. If the traffic estimate itself is your problem, Kvasano inherits that problem.
Is there a free Similarweb alternative?
Partly. Similarweb itself offers a trial on its self-serve plans. Semrush's free plan only shows Traffic & Market data for sample domains. Ahrefs Free covers your own sites, not competitors. Our free benchmark measures one competitor against you, once.
How accurate is Similarweb's traffic estimate?
I cannot give you a number, and I would be wary of anyone who does without showing their method. It is a model, not a count. Two habits help. Compare trends, not absolute numbers. And look up your own site, where you know the real figure, to see how far off the model is for sites like yours. That is one reason we measure your own brand on the same source as your competitors.
Does Similarweb track competitors' ads?
Yes, but not on the entry plan. As of October 2026, ad intelligence is part of its top self-serve plan, at $649 a month or $542 billed yearly.
Pick one competitor. See what we find.
Your first benchmark is free. One domain, measured against you, no card and no call.
