Channels

Where do they sell besides their own site?

Listings, price, Best Seller Rank and review counts on Amazon. A channel you forgot is a channel they own.

Worked example, 2026-08-18

20 listings found, 19 sold by the brand itself.

The rest are resellers, which means the price on those listings is not theirs to set.

Two brands, two completely different pictures

Some brands treat the marketplace as their second storefront and run it deliberately. Others discover that resellers have built one for them, at prices they did not choose, with reviews they cannot answer. Both show up here, and they call for opposite responses.

Review counts here are not the same as review counts there

A marketplace review pool builds over years and across every seller of that item. It answers a different question from the reviews on their own storefront, so we keep them apart rather than adding them into one flattering average.

What this does not do

We search their brand and read what the marketplace returns. A listing that does not carry the brand name will be missed.

Best Seller Rank moves hour to hour. We report the weekly direction and treat a single reading as noise.

A run that comes back with nothing is treated as a failed run, not as a brand that left the marketplace. Dropping from twenty listings to zero in two days is a collection problem, and it is reported as one.

Questions we get

Why does the marketplace matter if they sell direct?
Because their buyers do not care which one they use. A brand with a strong marketplace presence is capturing demand you never see in their own traffic, and a brand whose listings are all third-party resellers has a control problem worth knowing about.
How do you tell official listings from resellers?
By the seller on the listing. The split matters: a brand that sells its own inventory sets the price, and a brand whose range is resold by others does not.
What does Best Seller Rank actually tell me?
Roughly how fast something is selling in its category, right now. It is noisy day to day, which is why we track the weekly move rather than quoting the number as if it were a sales figure.
